Moravian Sports Medicine Facility

Location Bethlehem, PA
Size 42,970 sq. ft.
Project Type Education
Services Development & Design/Build

After the former 24/7 fitness facility closed its doors, J.G. Petrucci Company, Inc. completed the development and turn-key fit-out of a 42,970 sq. ft. athletic training facility for Moravian University.

The diversified use of the building design created the opportunity for Moravian University to work closely and collaborate with their strategic partner, St. Luke’s Health Network. St. Luke’s occupies 10,000 sq. ft. for primary care, sports medicine, and physical therapy, while Moravian University students get the chance to both study and practice sports medicine at this new facility.

J.G. Petrucci partnered with Cerminara Architect to develop new plans that took the building from 26,200 sq. ft. to 42,970 sq. ft. The strategic development team extended the existing mezzanine and made a proper second floor by turning the eight floor-to-ceiling racquetball courts into office space, conference areas, and classrooms. The first floor was redesigned for the college’s athletic training programs and lab spaces.
