The new 17,000 sq. ft. building will serve as additional space for the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist
J.G. Petrucci Company, Inc. recently delivered a newly constructed 17,000 sq. ft. religious education facility for the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. The Cathedral’s new building will serve as additional space for various community initiatives and will be the home for the new Brilla Public Charter School, which will open its doors for the 2023-2024 academic year. The charter school will support and aid students to succeed inside and outside the classroom.
Located in the Old Great Falls Historic District of Paterson, New Jersey, the facility features masonry elements to match the adjacent historical buildings while incorporating more modern details, including the fiber cement siding and trims on the second story.
“It is a tremendous honor to be working with the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist as they minister to the Paterson community,” explains Jim Petrucci, President of J.G. Petrucci Company.
The project connects to the existing gymnasium and parish offices, through the basement, which allows for a seamless transition into the new space for the Cathedral’s current community programs.
“I cannot begin to express my gratitude to Jim Petrucci and his tremendous staff for providing our children and families with the most beautiful educational space in which to grow into the people that God made him or her to be. Not only were his staff master builders, they always became a part of our community, and this was evidenced in the great care they took with each and every aspect of the construction.” Monsignor Geno Sylva, Rector of the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist.
Cerminara Architect served as the architect on the project. J.G. Petrucci’s affiliate construction firm, Iron Hill Construction Management, performed all of the construction.
